The Air Force series of Load positioning and balancing systems are totally pneumatically powered devices which enable an operator to accurately position an object or manipulate a tool while rendering the object or tool weightless. The Air Force is not a hoist. There is no requirement for hoist controls for up or down motion. All movement is accomplished by the operator simply grasping the load and moving it since the load is essentially weightless. Loads can be moved vertically over the full rated cable travel of up to 5 feet. This eliminates the hit-and-miss positioning using hoist controls. Because loads are rendered weightless, they remain balanced wherever positioned. When retrieving or releasing a load, the Air Force is provided with a Quick Release Switch which instantly vents the system that results in a slack cable. The operator can then attach a new load or release a positioned load without fighting cable tension. The balancing force in these systems is provided by an air cylinder working in conjunction with a precision, quick release air regulator. The amount of balancing force is easily changed for varying loads by adjusting the pressure at the regulator. Therefore, loads of from 5% to 100% of full rating can be accommodated. Unlike air motors, air consumption is minimal. Features
